Questions & answers
The things people actually ring up and ask. If yours isn't here, ring the shop — you'll get the person who'd be making it.
Delivery & areas
What does delivery cost?
£5 across Ashcombe, Hartsmere and Willowdene. £8 for the outlying villages. It's added at the end, and it's the only charge on top of the bouquet price — there's no service fee and no card fee.
How late can I order for the same day?
1pm, Tuesday to Saturday. After that we'll deliver the next working day. We're closed Sunday and Monday, so a Saturday afternoon order arrives Tuesday — worth knowing before you leave it late on a Friday.
What happens if nobody's in?
We'll try a neighbour, then leave them somewhere sheltered and out of sight if it's safe to, and text you a photo of where. If there's nowhere sensible we bring them back to the shop, keep them in water and redeliver the next day at no extra cost. We won't leave flowers in full sun or on a doorstep in the rain.
Do you deliver to hospitals and care homes?
Yes, but ring the ward first — a lot of them no longer accept flowers, and it varies by ward rather than by hospital. If they turn us away we'll bring them back and redeliver wherever you'd like instead.
The flowers themselves
Will it look exactly like the photo?
No, and we'd rather say so. Everything is made by hand from what came in that morning, so the shape and the exact stems vary. The colour, the size and the feel of it will match. That's why we send you a photo before it leaves — if it isn't what you pictured, tell us and we'll remake it.
What if a flower I asked for isn't available?
We substitute like for like — same colour, same weight in the arrangement, same value or better — and we tell you what we changed rather than hoping you don't notice. If a specific flower is the whole point (an anniversary, a favourite), say so when you order and we'll ring you instead of substituting.
How long will they last?
Five to seven days for most hand-tied bouquets, longer for chrysanthemums and carnations, shorter for peonies and garden roses in a warm room. Cut a centimetre off the stems at an angle, change the water every couple of days, keep them off the windowsill and away from the fruit bowl.
Are the flowers British-grown?
Some of them, and it depends on the season. From May to October a good share is British, often from within thirty miles. In midwinter almost none of it is, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something. We'll always tell you where a stem came from if you ask.
Weddings & funerals
How far ahead should I book a wedding?
Six to nine months for a Saturday between May and September. Less for a weekday or the winter — we've done lovely ones at six weeks' notice. There's no charge to come and talk about it before you decide.
Can you work with a funeral director?
Yes — give us the director's name and the time of the service and we'll deal with them directly, including delivery to the chapel for the right hour. You won't need to co-ordinate it.
Is there a minimum spend for tributes?
No. A single posy is a perfectly good thing to send and we make them with the same care as a £200 casket spray.
Paying & putting things right
What if they arrive damaged or wilted?
Send us a photo within 48 hours and we'll remake and redeliver, or refund — your choice, and we don't ask you to send them back. Flowers are perishable and occasionally one has a bad day in transit; that's our problem, not yours.
Can I cancel or change an order?
Any time before we start making it — that's 1pm the day before for a dated delivery. After that we've bought and cut the stems, so we can change the delivery address or date but can't refund the bouquet.
Do you do subscriptions?
Weekly, fortnightly or monthly, from £22 a delivery, and you can pause it any week you're away. No minimum term and no cancellation fee — if you want to stop, you tell us and it stops.
Still not sure what to send?
Tell the finder the occasion, your budget and a colour, and it'll suggest a few that fit.
